Our winter trap line tours start at the beginning of December when the creeks freeze over and snow blankets the landscape of our foothills line. The days are short and there’s plenty of work to be done getting everything opened back up and the traps out. During your stay you’ll learn about the history of trapping in Canada from me, a third generation trapper who’s been out on the trapline since I was able to walk.
These tours are 6 days in length and are 2 on 1, which make them excellent for a parent and a child, or just getting out with a good friend. If you are looking for a 1 on 1 adventure please let us know, and we may be able to work something out.
We target Wolves, Marten, Fisher, Wolverine, Lynx, Weasel, Beaver and Otter using a variety of modern trapping techniques. Days are spent traveling along snowy trails by snowmobile enjoying this vast wilderness and checking traps and snares as we go.
There is an extremely healthy population of wolves in our area, and they are one of the animals we focus on during each tour. Success rate will be close to 50% in taking a wolf while you’re here, although it is not uncommon to take multiple wolves in a week when everything lines up.
There is also a strong population of lynx and we average better than one per week. Marten, Fisher and Weasel along with the occasional Coyote, Fox, Wolverine, Otter and Beaver will be the other animals caught throughout our winter season.
6 days 2 on 1 $3,500
*Wolf hunting is included on all hunts for the price of the license ($50) plus a $500 U.S. fee payable directly to your guide for pelt handling upon harvest.
